Playgroup is BAAAAAACK!
Summer edition includes treats for your ears and fun things to do with the kids this term 💛
Hey friend,
Just letting you know that Playgroup starts back this Thursday (1st Feb) and runs until Thurs 28 March. On the final week of term, we will have a special Easter celebration with story, song, and craft. This will be a fun morning to invite friends along.
We have a few changes this term, we welcome Hannah Hurley to alternate Story and Song with Rachel Thomson (thank God, saving you all from my singing!), Anita Welsh to set up, and Olivia Beth Fourie as our newest Playgroup bub.
And we have a special treat with two new contributors to Three Things: Hannah Le Cras and Teanna Alexander.
Podcast Recs by Hannah Le Cras
Is Colin Buchanan as popular in your house as he is in mine? Have you ever wondered who the man behind the music is? I really enjoyed this interview with Colin on the Reformers Bookcast. He is down to earth, brings his characteristic sense of humour, and has some handy hints for parenting as well as a couple of book recommendations.
Speaking of Colin, this podcast is the grown-up equivalent of his song “Big Words That End in Shun”. The episodes are only around 5 minutes long and explain words/phrases that are common in Christian-ese (but nowhere else…)
One of the items on my bucket list is to do a church history class, but until I get there, “5 Minutes in Church History” is seeing me through. I like the punchiness of the episodes (especially if I’m listening on double speed!), and that my understanding of where the church has come from is ever-so-slowly increasing.
Finally, Pretty Little Lies and Beautiful Eternal Truths by Alisa Childers are two talks I have listened to multiple times, they are THAT good. I love how she reminds me of the truth and how it is so much more satisfying than the lies of the culture that aim to make women feel good – but fall drastically short as soon as you dig a little deeper.
